Commercial CCTV

A professionally installed CCTV system from us provides even greater deterrent to would-be criminals. But it is more than just another level of protection. It doesn’t just let you view your business from anywhere, it doesn’t just record incidents.

CCTV technology is constantly moving forward, a CCTV system can do much more than just record pictures and let you view them remotely. We at Wakefield’s have said goodbye to traditional CCTV as we know it.

Informing You

Not just informing you that something or someone has entered your property, we can let you know if someone is going around your car park in the wrong direction. We collect number-plates for sure, more than that though you can set up a white list that opens gates and barriers when white listed number plates come on to the property, or a black list that sets off alarms when black listed number plates arrive. People counting. Your CCTV system knows how many people are in the building. Face recognition. Yes you read that correctly, face recognition. We can open doors for the right people or set off alarms when a known shoplifter enters your shop. Whatever your problem our CCTV will have the solution .

Most CCTV systems alert your smart-phone or a monitoring centre that there is someone on your property. Nothing new there, I hear you say. Many of the cheaper camera systems do this, and you are absolutely right, they do. But these cameras work on motion and as such inform you every time that something moves on the picture. And so every time the wind blows and trees and plants move, every time a neighbouring cat walks past, every time it rains or snows you get a notification. A professionally installed system from Wakefield will be set up to only inform if an item of a specific size enters a specific area of interest viewed on the picture.

The CCTV below has been set up to inform the owner if a human size object enters the yellow box below. Therefore on a windy day the customer is not sent hundreds of notifications because the background trees and bushes are moving in the wind.

Identification

There are so many CCTV installers around nowadays, this is because many of the systems you can buy off the shelf are plug and play and anyone with a basic knowledge can fit one. However, there is a difference between a professional and people that are competent. There is great importance in deciding the correct lens, the correct back light compensation setting, and many other settings that are renowned for ensuring that the camera does the job that it was intended for. There is much more to fitting a camera straight out of the box and pointing it in the right direction.

Below, the camera on the left is set up straight out of the box, the camera on the right has been adjusted to compensate for backlight, and the wide dynamic range has been set up to give a far more useful picture.

The below picture on the left has been professionally set up for night time view, the one on the right is straight out of the box. The room is pitch black and there is no natural light at all.

Pant Tilt Zoom

In most applications where pan tilt zoom cameras (PTZ) have been used, they have been mis-sold. Until recently PTZ cameras were only any use if there was someone operating them. The rest of the time they are mostly looking the other way when something happens. We have always avoided selling PTZ cameras where we know that they would be unmanned, as in most cases 3 or 4 static cameras will do the trick.

Even tracking PTZ can be looking the wrong way when something happens.

But now with Multi sensor tracking PTZ cameras you can record everything you need and zoom into motion in the areas of most interest.

The below picture demonstrates the difference between standard hi resolution camera and a megapixel camera.
